Don’t buy avocados anymore, grow them at home

  • Light  : essential, but avoid full sun in summer.
  • Watering  : about once a week, depending on the ambient temperature.
  • Pruning  : Pinch back young stems when they reach 30 cm to encourage a bushier silhouette.
  • Feeding  : A little organic fertilizer once a month will make  a real difference  .

And the fruits?

Let’s face it  : growing an avocado tree is a  long  journey. It takes  between 3 and 5 years  to hope to see the first fruits appear… and even then, provided the tree is well-developed. A tip to maximize your chances:  graft a branch from an already productive avocado tree  onto yours.

Common Minor Problems? Here Are the Solutions!

  • Yellowing leaves?  Reduce watering  : too much moisture can suffocate the roots.
  • Inert core?  Check the temperature (  between 18 and 25°C  ) and the frequency of water renewal.
  • Slow growth?  Give it more light  and a little patience  , it works too!
