Opening red wine is so easy: There’s no bottle opener, just a paper clip…
Sometimes you might have a bottle of wine in your hand, wanting to enjoy it, but you don’t have a corkscrew handy. Don’t worry! There are several clever ways to open a bottle of wine without this utensil.
In the following article, we’ll explain three simple and effective methods for opening a bottle of wine with ease.
Method 1: Towel and Wall
This is a surprisingly effective and easy-to-perform trick. All you need is a bottle of wine, a thick towel, and a wall. Here’s the step-by-step process:
Prepare the bottle: Remove the plastic capsule covering the bottle cap.
Use a towel: Fold a thick towel into several layers (if you don’t have a thick towel, you can use folded clothes) and place it on the bottom of the bottle.
Tap the bottle against the wall: Place the bottle against a wall and, with the towel attached, gently tap the bottom of the bottle against the wall. Make sure you use even force. Not too hard so the bottle doesn’t break, but not too gently either.
Remove the cork: After a few taps, the cork will begin to come loose. When it’s far enough away, pull it out with your hand until it’s completely removed.
