Skin cancer: the ABCDE rule can save your life

The ABCDE rule: a simple method for analyzing your moles

A mole that itches, changes color, or bleeds absolutely requires a dermatological consultation. Beforehand, experts have developed methods, such as the ABCDE rule, to detect melanoma early. Of course, these methods are in no way a substitute for a consultation with a qualified professional.

A stands for Asymmetry

Half of the mole does not look like the other half.

B for Irregular Edges

The edges of the mole are irregular and poorly defined.

C is for Color

A malignant lesion is not homogeneous; several shades (brown, dark brown, black, red, blue, or pinkish brown) are mixed together within it.

D for Diameter

A melanoma is usually larger than 6mm.

E for Evolution

A rapid change in size, shape, or color.
