This is where you have to be patient! Within two to six weeks, you should see the pit split. A white root will first point toward the bottom of the glass, followed by a small green shoot toward the top. When the root reaches about 10 cm , it’s time to move on to the next step.
Step 3: Plant your avocado tree in a pot

Get a 20cm diameter pot with drainage holes. For the substrate, choose a lightweight all-purpose potting soil , mixed with a little compost if possible. Plant the seed without burying it completely: leave the top third of the surface protruding.
Place your pot in a bright spot, but out of direct sunlight, such as a south- or southeast-facing windowsill . Water sparingly, only when the potting soil begins to dry out.
